Ho’oponopono, the worm in the fruit

I began working with Dr Ihaleakala Hew Len as an assistant in 2006, and in 2008 he entrusted me with the task of transmitting Morrnah Simeona’s message to French-speaking countries where there was a strong demand. It was in this context that I organized the first training course, which I co-facilitated with him in September 2009 in Paris before an audience of several hundred people. From 2010, I created Ho’oponopono France and led the only training courses officially linked to the Morrnah lineage. In this way, I have ensured that this transmission has reached over a thousand people in the French-speaking world. I also organized Dr Len’s last public appearance in Paris during a “Business Ho’oponopono” training course. Ihaleakala Hew Len then retired into silence until his transition in 2022.

The drift of Ho’oponopono

When I look at the state of Ho’oponopono today, I see that as with all spiritualities, the original message has been transformed, distorted and betrayed… I can’t find a single example that escapes this sad drift. More than 2000 years ago, a man called Jesus came to pass on a very simple message of freedom and power. He was not understood, even by his closest disciples. Did he not, out of patience, utter the words: “Men of little faith…”, and did he not complain on several occasions, about the darkness of their minds.

Avatars come and go, but the men remain “stiff-necked”. Christianity, Islam and many other faiths have brought more war than peace to the planet they were intended to ‘connect’ with unity and love… It’s unfortunate, but the worshippers of the ‘golden calf’ and the merchants of the temple have been quick to take advantage of the level of consciousness and credulity of human beings. When spirituality becomes synonymous with marketing, we can expect the worst. You only must open your eyes today and look at the state of the world to see the result of this sleight of hand. But let’s not kid ourselves or point the finger of blame.

Morrnah Simeona’s message

Let each and every one of us ask ourselves the question lucidly. Whether we have written a word, a book, a blog, a message or even held a belief relating to ho’oponopono: “In what way have I contributed to the evolution of inner freedom on this planet thanks to my practice?”

It is important to remember that Morrnah Simeona did not create ho’oponopono from scratch. She adapted this traditional hawaiian ritual to become “Self-identity through Ho’oponopono”. This difference is explicit if you understand the meaning of “self identity”.

You should also know that the foundation she created to disseminate her teaching is called “The Foundation of “I”, Freedom of the Cosmos”. The freedom of the cosmos is the dream of the Creator that runs through the Old Testament, the Vedas, Buddhism, Islam and all spiritual paths, including paganism.

“I have not come to judge the world but to bring it freedom…”. Isn’t that clear? We must first go through this state called “ALOHA” to reach the level of consciousness that enables us to live this simple thing: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself. It is impossible to truly love if we have not succeeded in reaching the state of absolute freedom that corresponds to the realization of the Self.

Loving is not attachment, emotion, kindness nor goodness. Loving is only possible when we achieve absolute humility which means the full death of self to become just a particle of a whole. Erasing all traces of ego is the only way to rediscover the state of natural attraction and complementarity that Hawaiians call the “Aloha state”.

In Polynesia, before the arrival of Christianity, which implanted the idea of duality, everything was considered as a reflection of the total unity of creation. In Hawaii, the spirit of Aloha is a vestige of this state and the original ho’oponopono is quite simply a reminder of this “paradisiacal state”. It is simply a world where a total harmony reigns between the kingdoms and species because everything is in its place and at its rhythm…

For those of us who have been corrupted by our memories, taboos, experiences and beliefs, Morrnah has devised a process of reintegration that makes it easy to wipe the slate clean of all the intoxication we have been subjected to. Self-identity through Ho’oponopono is a great kick in the anthill of our collective unconscious.

Ho’oponopono has only one aim : to free humanity from thousands of years of programming. The Ho’oponopono of Morrnah is not a prayer, nor a technique, a method or a new religion, it is a very practical and simple way of life. To eradicate all the memories we just need one attitude all day long…: Erase, erase, erase, erase everything… That’s the only summary of the technique she has perfected.

The worm in the fruit

Ihaleakala Hew Len has only ever personally signed one document entitled: “Who makes the decisions”. This text contains everything you need to know about erasing. It’s an instruction manual of no more than fifteen pages that describes the simplest path. Nobody needs more than this information.

Unfortunately, others have had to invest in themselves as “ho’oponopono priests” and promise the golden calf. It is so easy to play on the miseries of the world and the expectations of the crowd. Of course, it’s easier to promise more health, more happiness, more money than to propose a direct path through renunciation, through the death of the ego to achieve freedom of the self.

The worm was already in the fruit with the first book that popularized ho’oponopono. It’s a book playing on the fascination of expectations and a promise to live better, to manage life better. For Morrnah and for the spiritual tradition of Hawaii and elsewhere, life does not need to be managed, since it manages everything, from the galaxies to the limits of the infinitely small, which is the reflection of the infinitely huge.

Simplicity and meekness

To reach a state of meekness, we simply need to embrace with our eyes these worlds extending beyond our tiny illusion of time. We are nothing. It is by becoming aware of this obvious fact that we will be able to consciously reintegrate the whole. This means removing the veil of beliefs that hides the nakedness of the world.

If you want to know whether a course or book on Ho’oponopono really corresponds to the tradition, read between the lines and check whether what you understand gives rise to the slightest expectation in you. If you find in it any idea of a better you, forget about it. There is no better you anywhere. Remember that the kingdom of what we call God is within you and that when you find it everything will be added unto you. Do not start with a wish for an addition to your small illusory “ego” look for an empty space within you. Know that you don’t need more health, more happiness, more money or even more of yourself…

If you come across a book or a weekend that proposes to strip away all those layers of expectation until there’s nothing left visible between your fingers, then whatever the title, whatever its origins, even if it is not called “Ho’oponopono”, give it a try !
