How could I “love my enemies”?

“But I say to you who hear me: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you”.

A paradoxical advice.

This sentence, which we find reported by various disciples of Jesus, is undoubtedly one of the most paradoxical and difficult to apply in the whole Bible. It is almost always interpreted within the framework of a dualistic way of thinking that separates the other from ourselves. In front of us, we imagine those who have done us wrong and we feel that forgiving them and succeeding in loving them is not easy.

We should remember that the “sacred texts” of all civilizations express, often in pictorial or symbolic form, an instruction manual for human consciousness. God, Jesus Christ, the prophets, the angels, all the secondary characters… all these names constitute a kind of educational comic strip designed to appeal to the imagination on a subliminal level. These collections of “advices” are intended to reveal to us in a quasi-scientific way how to live in peace with ourselves.

The most effective way of interpreting these writings is to consider that everything they say is happening inside us and not outside. This is the meaning of the famous sentence: “The kingdom of God is within you”. Let’s not think like gullible children. Where can what we call God, Allah, etc. be found? Certainly not on a cloud above our heads counting the number of our errors of conduct… Some will reply that he is omnipresent… And here again we can ask “Where?”… Inside us or outside?

”Outside” is an illusion.

Let’s think as an adult does, isn’t this illusion of the outside obvious…Just imagine people in a coma. Where is the outside for them? And when we leave this plane of life, what will be left for us of this world in which we have lived?

There’s no point in speculating about post-mortem experiences, astral visions, reincarnation… All that doesn’t confirm anything for the good reason that everything happens within a sealed consciousness. We can lose consciousness, but we can never leave our consciousness while alive because it is the very support of Being…

We are like a fish in an aquarium. Understanding this helps us to better understand the practical meaning of the sentence quoted at the beginning of this publication… Forgiving our enemies and loving them, where can that happen, and in fact, who are they?
